With nothing
substantial locating the assembly, the spring would then
"walk" sideways, eventually allowing the leaf material to
damage the mounting flanges on the frame. Bad. To solve this
problem we switched to high-density polyurethane bushings.
The sleeve
is greased and moves independently of the bushing halves.
This feature frees up more travel and removes tremendous
amounts of stress from the assembly.
Additionally, these bushings are shaped like a "T" which
eliminates the possibility of the leaf spring walking in the
hangar.
